Help a Child Grow Through the Gift of Education

What is the Escamequita Project?

In 2017, The Barrio Planta Project (BPP) opened its doors to a second education project in the rural region of Escamequita in Nicaragua, 40 minutes away from its first location in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. Utilizing our successful model of a mutually beneficial exchange between the local and ex-pat communities in San Juan del Sur, we successfully graduated over 50 students in our first year in Escamequita. Still, due to to the lack of access to basic education, students in this area, especially those in secondary school begin work in agriculture to help support their families at a young age. With the support of Costa Dulce, Verdad at Costa Dulce, and other generous donors, BPP will continue expanding its impact, implementing its educational model in this rural area and incorporating an agricultural education component. In addition, with your support, in 2018, we will look to expand our space in order to accept new admissions as well as increase staffing and curriculum to better serve the community.

Classes launch in February 2018. Please consider sponsoring this important initiative and thank you in advance for dedicating your time and energy to Help a Child Grow.
